Vanessa Place

 

Vanessa Place is an American poet, born in 1968. She is the author of Dies: A Sentence (a fifty-thousand-word, single-sentence novella), the novel La Medusa and the trilogy Tragodía, which consists of Tragodía 1: Statement of Facts (Blanc Press, 2010), Tragodía 2: Statement of The Case (Blanc Press, 2011) and Tragodía 3: Argument (Blanc Press, 2011). As a criminal apellate lawyer, some of her work uses the language of courtrooms to expose aspects of our contemporary maladies. She is also the author of Notes on Conceptualisms (with Robert Fitterman, Ugly Duckling Press, 2009) and The Guilt Project: Rape, Morality and Law (Other Press, 2010). She was the first poet invited to take part of Whitney Biennial.
